I got this book last year after talking with you. It is profound in all aspects. Wishing for you a time of joy, kindness and peace, I can’t wait to read anything you write!!!! Keep writing Renate!!
Dear Viv, I love your description of the book and am so very happy you got it last year...May those blessings you wish for me return to you multiplied. Thank you SO MUCH for your encouragement! I cannot express how much it means to me. I love you.
As usual Renate, your story warmed my heart. I have yet to read this book (so many books, so little time!) but you sparked a new dream: to visit Waterstones flagship store in person then purchase my own copy and one for my dad, I think. Keep writing my friend!
Though I love the big Waterstones bookstore, Hatchards further down Piccadilly is a more intimate bookstore. i also remember when the store Waterstones of Piccadilly is now in, used to be Simpson’s department store. I remember it when I first came to London in the 1980s, it was a very special store.
The building is grade I listed, due to its innovative construction in the 1930’s - which is why the building still has the old railings and other features.
I agree, The boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse is a very special book.
Kate, I am always deeply thankful for new bookstore recommendations! Thank you! I will check out Hatchard's. I discovered South Kensington Books this visit and I enjoyed the smaller intimate feel. I personally think Foyle's on Charing Cross may be the most dangerous place in the city! And thank you for the introduction to the Waterstones Piccadilly history and architecture. Along with books and bookshops, these are two very favorite topics!
My pleasure. I presume you have been to Dante Books? One of the few remaining independent book stores. Also the London Review Bookshop, near the British Museum.
Oh, I really, really, really LOVE that dream, Amy! I can't wait to learn more about your Dad. The Boy, the Mole, the Fox, and the Horse is a very, very special book. Who knows? Perhaps I'll be near when you make that purchase! If not, I will look forward to hearing what you think. All my love, friend. And, thank you so much for your encouragement! It warms MY heart!

Artists restore my faith in humanity and my conviction that the tyrants will never succeed!
